Description

A delightful book with lots of fun things to do with your best friend. Some of these are old favorites and some are quite ingenious.

I'm quibbling but: about 25 of the "games" are what I would call "tricks", and a few of the games: agility for instance; are subject for entire books themselves, and not something you can pick up easily on your own. But the idea is to introduce you to the concepts which you can then build on.If you really want to connect/communicate/work with your dog (and yes I am that type of dog owner) then this book might get you to thinking and doing things a little differently. Many of the games (and tricks) can be done with a minimum of equipment, several of them we were doing them after only a couple of minutes. Some are one person:one dog others can involve your dog with several people. Everything is based off of: fetch, tug, run, sniff (because face it: that's pretty much all your dog can do) but the book does a really good job of mixing those concepts together and in a way that you & your dog can have some safe fun.It helps if you have a good sit, stay, down, leave it, come and a distraction free work space to start and maybe a few treats. My 2year old cattle dog was going through yet another patch of willfulness, general brattiness and excessive leash pulling; I was getting angry &frustrated (teenagers!) and about to use the pinch collar but I got this book, we started playing a couple games, I learned again how to work with my dog. She still pulls on the leash sometimes … but we are both working on solving this leash issue as a game not an clash of wills.
