To me, this is one of the top albums of the '80s and ranks up there with some of Parliament-Funkadelic's strongest LPs (Funkentelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome, One Nation Under a Groove, Mothership Connection). The concept is brilliant and the music takes off with the groove "Get Dressed." Then, there's one of the hottest songs in all of P-Funkdom: "Man's Best Friend"...which morphs into the Afrika Bambaataa-esque "Loopzilla." Then there's Clinton singing from his soul in "Computer Games."Then, there is the indomitable "Atomic Dog." Afterwards, we get the cut "One Fun at a Time" that ends the album. The album is consistent with one great lyric after another and shows Clinton appropriating '80's staples of music production (drum machines, punchy synthesizers, and the hip hop aesthetic) to create one of the freshest Funk albums of all-time. Not only that, the album serves at the springboard for hip hop as in over 10 years, rapper Snoop Dogg and producer Dr. Dre would take "Atomic Dog" as the springboard for "What's My Name?" This is easily one of the most influential albums in R&B and hip hop history.
